MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES
● Oversees and directs usher staff during events.

Respiratory Therapist-Registered

Overview

This is an internal posting for current Respiratory Therapy staff. 

 

This is a Weekend Package position. Work hours will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 pm – 6:00 am, for 72 hours per pay period, and as needed. You will work 4 consecutive weekends in a row with every 5th weekend off. This position is eligible for WEP differential. 

 

Under the supervision of the medical director, the Respiratory Therapist-Registered is responsible to provide respiratory care services in accordance with physicians’ orders, department policies and procedures, as well as respiratory therapy-driven protocols. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing basic and advanced care services to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

  • Assesses and evaluates the respiratory status of neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.
  • Determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages, compatible with physicians’ orders.
  • Initiates, conducts, and modifies prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures per established protocols.
  • Monitors patient’s physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, and consults with physician if adverse reaction occurs.
  • Applies and monitors medical gases and related respiratory therapy modalities.
  • Develops the respiratory care plan based on the assessment of the patient.
  • Responds to Code Blue/Pink, Trauma, Rapid Response Team or other urgent calls for patient care.
  • Provides emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment. Manages ventilators and artificial airway devices.
  • Reviews patient information to assess patient condition.

Leadership/Collaboration

  • Works collaboratively with the team of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to manage patient care.
  • Enforces safety rules and ensures careful adherence to physicians’ orders.
  • Deploys clinical quality initiatives in the respiratory therapy service line.
  • Uses a variety of research techniques to assist the physician in cardiac and pulmonary best practices.

Sports Official

The Sports Official is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of each child enrolled in the program. He or she demonstrates leadership, shows active participation and enthusiasm on the court or field. He or she also serves as a positive and wholesome role model to all participants and other staff in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Dubuque Community Y. Sports he or she will officiate include, but not limited to: Soccer, Basketball, Flag Football, T-Ball, Softball, Volleyball, Track, Indoor Soccer, Indoor Baseball and Floor Hockey

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Serves as role model to members and Y staff, and at all times lives the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
2. Uses teachable moments as often as possible during the course of a game.
3. Sets up and tears down the necessary sports equipment needed for the game
4. Memorize to the “Youth Sports Pledge” and be able to present it on game day to the kids.
5. Reads and understands the rules that have been developed for the YMCA league.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Childcare Teacher Assistant – Para is responsible for assisting the teacher in the education of children including management of student behavior, record keeping, instructional assistance, classroom safety, security and organization, and interaction and communication with students, support staff, parents/guardians, and agencies. Responsible for ensuring quality childcare by adhering to all state regulations, best practices, and Hills & Dales policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

 1. Maintain daily communication with parents &/or guardians.

2. Maintains strict confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.

3. Encourages and facilitates children’s active participation in activities.

4. Actively participates in activities with children.

5. Ensure children follow the basic rules of the program.

6. Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting and toilet habits.

7. Actively participates in meal time expectations.  Assisting children in serving themselves meals and snacks.  Following all State CACFP regulations.

8. Assist in diapering and dressing children.

9. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, daily attendance and medications administered.

10.  Assists the Lead Teacher to plan and implement lesson plans to nurture and stimulate appropriate development of the children in your care.

11.  Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety and overall well-being of children at all times. 

12.  Use positive guidance techniques rather than harsh discipline to support children through challenging behaviors. 

13.  Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive concepts. 

14.  Assists the Lead Teacher with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. 

15.  Follow strict cleaning and sanitizing procedures for toys, changing tables, meal preparation, etc.

16.  Assists in the implementation of programs, which encourages parent involvement and development. 

17.  Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to supervisor or parents/guardians attention.

18.  Participates in professional development training that lead toward enhancing professional qualifications, at least 10 contact hours annually. 

19.  Establishes and maintains a level of rapport with students that results in students being shown that all individuals are deserving of respectful and dignified treatment and promoting a healthy self-concept in all students. 

20.  Protects the health and safety of children on the playground and in the building at all times, maintaining appropriate ratio at all times throughout the day. 

Requirements

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  2. An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood is preferred, or one year minimum experience in an early childhood setting may be considered.
  3. Para-educator Certification through the BOEE in early childhood education. If do not currently have this, must be actively enrolled in BOEE paraprofessional course at the start of the school year. 
  4. Free from a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.  
  5. Must complete CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, Better Kid Care NSO, Essentials Childcare Preservice Series, and Mandatory Reporting in the first three months of employment and 10 contact hours of child related training annually.
