A locally owned and operated company is seeking a dedicated Yard Lead / Supervisor to assist in a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day operations, managing a team, and ensuring the smooth functioning of a lumber yard. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, be committed to safety and have previous lumber yard/ construction leadership experience. This is a direct hire opportunity. Meaning, the best fit candidate will go directly onto the hiring company’s payroll and receive their benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities: Oversee the efficient and safe operation of the lumber yard, including receiving, storage, and distribution of lumber products.
- Team Management: Lead and motivate a team of yard personnel. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure high levels of productivity and job satisfaction.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of lumber products meets company standards. Implement and enforce quality control measures throughout the yard operations.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, track stock levels, and collaborate with procurement to ensure an adequate supply of lumber products.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote a culture of safety. Implement safety policies, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Customer Service: Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently. Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly.
What we’d like you to bring to the opportunity:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a building supply or construction-related industry.
- Knowledge of lumber products, grades, and quality standards.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to creating a safe work environment.
