If so, then you may be among the qualified candidates we consider for the full-time position of Director of the Childcare Center at the Marita Theisen Childcare Center at Steeple Square.
Steeple Square is a collaborative, inclusive center, providing a hub for social life and community support in the downtown Dubuque area. The Center serves as an agent for positive change and a catalyst for restoring lives, neighborhood empowerment and community vibrancy. The Marita Theisen Childcare Center is owned and operated by Steeple Square, a non-profit Community Center.
Serving children, ages 6 (six) weeks through pre-school, the childcare Ccenter offers features such as a gross motor skills room for infants and toddlers; STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) for 4-year-olds; an outdoor fenced-in newly remodeled playground area; accessibility; security; passthrough drop-off areas and many more leading attributes in childcare facilities.
The qualified individual selected for this position will oversee the operations (compliance, budget, curriculum, policies, staffing and safety/cleanliness) of our childcare center ensuring the children are given a safe, happy and educational environment. Reporting to the president of the board of directors, he/she will be self-motivated, maintain professional integrity; demonstrate a high level of accountability; and offer visibility, dependability and accessibility to all staff, clients and the community.
The ideal candidate shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with children in a teaching position or administering child care, preferably holding an associates or bachelor’s degree in early childcare or education. A combination of experience and/or education shall be considered. This individual must also hold (or secure) all required certifications (i.e., CPR, first aid, mandatory reporting, etc.), a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a background check.

Salary starts at $40,000 a year and is negotiable based on experience.
